What to confirm in a cost estimate and insurance reply

Request an itemized estimate and policy-specific insurance confirmation before relying on a package price or direct-billing statement.

Ask the hospital for an estimate tied to the exact campus, planned service and appointment route. This first collection publishes no treatment prices because it has not verified comparable, dated quotes.

Make the estimate specific

  • Ask for the currency, service description, estimate date and validity period.
  • Confirm whether the consultation, tests, medicines, supplies, interpretation and reports are included.
  • For a proposed admission, ask which room type and stay assumptions the estimate uses, and which charges depend on the actual care provided.
  • Ask about deposits, payment timing, cancellation and refunds.
  • Keep hospital charges separate from any independent travel or coordination service.

Jiahui's International Office advertises detailed cost estimates. Request one for your own proposed visit; an estimate is not a guarantee that the final amount will remain unchanged.

Confirm insurance on both sides

Jiahui and Shanghai United Family describe direct billing, while Raffles Beijing asks patients to discuss direct-payment options with customer service. These statements do not decide whether your own plan covers a visit.

  • Ask the hospital whether your exact policy can be billed for that campus and service.
  • Ask your insurer whether the proposed visit and provider are covered and whether advance authorization is required.
  • Confirm any deductible, co-payment, excluded service and amount you must pay yourself.
  • Ask which documents are needed if you pay first and submit a claim later.

Keep written replies

Save the estimate, authorization reference and relevant hospital and insurer replies. If the appointment or planned service changes, reconfirm the billing arrangement. This is an administrative checklist and does not interpret your policy or recommend a treatment.
