What it measures
Official 2023 STEM covers research output, academic influence and research conditions. The study evaluates 2,943 tertiary hospitals and publishes comprehensive results plus results for 34 clinical subjects. This file selects comprehensive annual STEM only; the official JSON table supplies the original positions and total scores.
Publisher’s methodologyWhat it cannot tell you
A ranking is not evidence of international-patient access, an English-speaking clinical team, appointment availability, treatment suitability or clinical outcomes. Check the exact hospital, department, campus and access route separately. STEM assesses research activity, not an overall patient-care league table. The selection omits positions 21-100, specialty tables and the separate five-year ASTEM results.

The Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences' annual hospital STEM exercise examines scientific activity, drawing on research outputs, academic influence and research conditions rather than measuring an individual patient's treatment result. This selection reproduces the first twenty numbered results from the official 2023 comprehensive table, which publishes one hundred positions, and keeps the edition year separate from its July 2024 release date and from the distinct five-year ASTEM exercise. Readers can use it to understand a hospital's research context, but should consult the relevant clinical department and official patient services before drawing conclusions about care, eligibility, language or access.
